Founding Partners

The four founding partners of Agrimetrics are Rothamsted Research, Reading University, NIAB and SRUC. Together, they provide world-leading expertise and capabilities in data science, smart analytics, bioinformatics, translational research and knowledge exchange in soils, crops, livestock, food and sustainability. They provide the core functionality of Agrimetrics, working alongside academia and industry to deliver new innovations, services and products for the whole food and farming sector.
Agrimetrics is one of four Agri-Tech Centres set up by Government to inspire new business, greater efficiency and improved profits for the UK agrifood sector. These Centres are harnessing the UK's world-leading science, technology and expertise to deliver access, value and wealth for the whole sector.

Rothamsted is the longest-running agricultural research station in the world. Its track record includes the discovery of the most widely used class of insecticides and its current research strategy addresses challenges in arable crops, grassland and bioenergy systems. Hosting the largest UK group of scientists working on bioinformatics, statistics and modelling applied to agri-food systems, Rothamsted hosts Agrimetrics's Head Office. This critical mass enables the centre quickly to engage with a range of players in the industry.

The University of Reading has an international reputation for teaching and research in agriculture, ecosystem services, climate, earth observation, nutrition and behavioural economics. In the 2018 QS World Subject Rankings, it was ranked 6th for Agriculture and Forestry research. It is also consistently ranked as the UK's top university for impact in Agricultural Sciences research by ISI Web of Knowledge, Essential Science Indicators. The University is home of the platform development team which allows them to draw on the wealth of domain specific knowledge which the University can offer.

NIAB has the UK's largest independent capability for crop trials and a breadth of translational research activity that ranges from pre-breeding to applied agronomy. SRUC is one of the UK's leading agriculturally-focused higher education institutes, offering a unique blend of research, education and consultancy to the agri-food sector. With extensive networks into the crop and livestock sectors in the UK and key partners in Farming Futures, NIAB and SRUC lead Agrimetrics's knowledge exchange and engagement with an active group of advocates for on-farm change.
